Last term I took a class called "Health Systems and Organizations," and although we are not studying the US healthcare reform laws in our class, I thought some people might find this video from the Kaiser Family Foundation to be helpful. It is an eight minute animated short that explains whats going on really well. If you have time- I really recommend watching it!

Thanks, Sara! This is actually really helpful. I did learn some new things. It does help to have a pretty straight-forward, bare-bones explanation. I was really glad to see the Health Care Reform Bill pass. I like what the narrator said about politics and pundits. it is intensely politicized. I thought that Bush was working toward something similar too. And Clinton before him. Sometimes I think we have more consensus than we realize. Important issues (like the health and well-being of our constituents) can get so mired down by politics and bureaucracy. That isn't to say that the new law is flawless. I'm sure that as I understand it more, I will find aspects I don't understand or am uncomfortable with. In the meantime, though, it is good to know that some things are going to be more accessible to all.
